A Christmas Wish is finished....

OK Drumroll.....

A Christmas Wish
(thank you Gail...)

very happy how this one turned out....
it will be hanging in the lounge at Christmas I think.

I'm almost finished the other one...
but after stuffing up the cutting, had to rethink what I was going to do....

have done sashings and cornerstones, a border and now I think another border to finish....

The numbers are the fabrics I like the best with it...
so I think that's how it's going to go...

Still going through that scrap bag...
(that's where all the fabrics for the scrappy one have come from)

what a job....
have resorted to using small boxes to get colour groups...

still a long way to go...

happy stitching

Thanks....

This little package was waiting for me when I got home today after the movie and shopping...

THANKS VICKIE!

A lovely piece of fabric....I can see some dollies with this...
and a cute little pad of sticky notes...so cool!

thanks again,
cheers Julz

ps for a bit of little relief go and see The Tooth Fairy....
I haven't laughed so much in a long time....very funny situation!

Happy Belated Australia Day...

Happy Australia Day to all for yesterday.

I would of posted yesterday but I made myself a promise....
not to blog surf all day and get nothing else done....
You know how it is...
skip from one blog to another to another to another...
and before you know it...

the day is gone!
so I checked my emails and reading list very quickly, did the housework (yuk), and sat down to try and finish these....

this one just needs to be trimmed and the binding put on. It's all quilted.

Yes this one I stuffed up!
I trimmed one block at 4 1/2" instead of 5 1/2" .....

I have now made them 4 1/2" square and will make up a smaller wall hanging with them...
I'm thinking small sashings with cornerstones...
maybe in cream and red, and then a green border

I'll have a play with it today when I get back...
taking my girls out to the movies...

they only have a few more days of the holidays left....

BACK TO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!!!!!!
(I'm not doing a happy dance....really!
Theses holidays seemed to go on forever...especially when one of them has been on said holiday since the beginning of November!!!!!)

Scrap bag finish....

Remember that bag of scraps my friend gave me....
well I have been digging around in there...
this is the first item out of it,
a cute little table throw...

still have 2 more blocks like the ones above....
I'm thinking about some block books (holders for blocks in progress),
or maybe some placemats to go with the table throw...
just need to see what else I come up with.

Also been busy stitching and trying very hard to finish my A Christmas Wish by Gail Pan,
it's coming along nicely now and shouldn't be too much longer...
back to stitching!

Fabric...

My Oh My...
today I picked this up from a friends place....

she said she was cleaning out her scraps.....
maybe they will be useful for some of your projects,
they are all fabrics I won't use.

So off home I trotted with my bags of goodies,
and spent a lovely afternoon in air conditioned comfort going through said SCRAPS!!!
(only made it to 43 degrees today!)
(That's Melbourne for you, supposed to be only mid 20s by Friday)

Sorry I digress....
I found so many treasures in these bags I will be busy for months!

That's only part of it...
haven't had time to do the rest.

So all I can really say is.....

thank you Jac!

you have made a friend very very happy....

While spending the time pulling scraps out of the big bag,
I would grab a handful,
and laughed out loud as I remembered going shopping for these fabrics,
remembering which quilt or whatever we were making with this fabric ....
thinking how alike our taste in fabric was, and is at times...
thinking OMG why did she buy that????
wish I knew she had more of that, cos I ran out and had to use something else...

So it was like taking a little trip down memory lane with these bags of scraps.
Thanks for the memories and hope that we have many many more!!!!

I wish that everyone could have as much fun as I did this afternoon,
just playing in a pile of fabric!

May all your scraps become quilts!
(cos mine sure will be)

cheers Julz

Great saying.....

Just visiting a few blogs I haven't been to in a while,
and found this lovely quote from Abe Lincoln....

The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time....

something to think about, I think.....
and to live by...
sometimes we all get so busy that we forget to stop and smell the flowers,
and take time out for each other....

Now I'm going to get back into the sewing...I'm trying to quilt a new tablethrow pattern...
and just can't seem to get my hands into the swing/rhythm I need to do a swirly pattern....
so guess what I'm doing instead????

cross hatch...mindless straight lines!!!!
